    Mouth/scale rot or just rubbing?
Hello, is this mouth/scale rot or is it just from rubbing? She has been eating and just shed about a week ago. Nothing observed anywhere else except right there around the mouth. Maybe treat with diluted chlorhexidine solution and a q-tip? Should I be worried about other snakes in location? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8c3aaa6af3.jpg

I'm not sure if it's mouth rot but it looks quite nasty to me, almost like it's 'eaten away' at her mouth. How long as she had this?

I would get your snake to the vet ASAP! Regardless of whether it's a nasty rub or mouth rot, it looks looks like it's progressed to the point that you should not try treating it yourself. Call/email your vet, send them a picture, and ask what to do in the meantime.

How has your snake's breathing and appetite been? Have you heard any clicking/wheezing while they breathe?

she has had it for about 2 days, right after her shed. She has been eating, no wheezing, and I have been observing her and she hasn’t been moving around the tub too much.

I agree, it looks beyond treating at home to me.

If you haven't already I'd clean the enclosure thoroughly and use paper towel substrate for now.

Please do let us know what the vet thinks about this...I've never seen anything like that before...I hope she makes a good recovery, but exposing part of the inside of
her mouth like this will make her prone to oral infections; I can't imagine how she might have done this either.

I had this happen with my first ball python a long time ago after he had a very bad shed. You may want to take him to a vet, but most likely it is just a cut. You can put antibacterial ointment ( without pain killer) on it and keep it clean. It should heal right up. Good luck!

Looks nasty, personally, vet trip in order if it was me. Best of luck.

Are you sure that's only been there for two days? It really looks like it's an advanced issue to me, something that's gone unnoticed for well over a week.

thanks for the info, guys! i appreciate it. I know forsure it hasnt been there longer then a week now. I checked on her the day before her shed and didnt notice anything. She shed and then i noticed it when i went to clean her tub. I did apply a q-tip with diluted chlorhexidine a couple days ago. I was told by several other people to do that or betadine but i was told it should heal. She ate again yesterday as well. When i get home, i will check on her. If it has progressed, i will be taking her to a vet!
