Freezer door left open for about 7 hours
It was only a crack though. The rats aren't warm and aren't limp so I think they aren't completely thawed yet. There were some ice crystals on the bag still. I keep them in a box as well so the ones on the bottom were colder.
Would it be safe to keep them all? Should I toss the ones on top? Or should I toss them all?

If they are still cold like refrigerated temps cold, then you can probably refreeze them and use them. However, you can't refreeze them if they are refused later. If they are room temp, then they are probably lost.

It's kind of hard to tell what temp they were now, but I don't think they were room temp. They didn't give off any noticeable odor either. I think at least the ones not on top will be fine. Bag wasn't open either so it's not like any bacteria could have gotten in.

FYI, just so you understand: frozen rodents are filled with plenty of their own bacteria- especially in the GI tract (aka "gut"). These bacteria stop growing when frozen but come back to life as the temperatures become more friendly (warmer). Freezing doesn't kill them.

Thanks for the tip.
I'll try one of the ones that was colder and see if she accepts it. If not, then I'll toss them all.
