Up the size of prey ? Not putting on weight.
Does I need to up the size of the prey I am feeding my snake ?

We got Buzz in March as a hatching and I've been keeping to the feeding charts on here and feeding rats every 7 days keeping to the 10% - 12% prey size rule. He is putting on weight but very slowly he is now only 200g and taking rats upto 24g. For example the last two weeks he has had 48g of prey but has only put on 4g in weight! I didn't believe the scales so I've tried two different scales and both show the same result. He isn't out hunting and spends 99% of the day under his hide in the warm area. He will come out for a stretch every once in a while, other than that he appears to be a happy snake I am just confused that he isn't putting on weight.

    Any help is appreciated.

From the various charts I’ve seen. It looks like your male is progressing at a normal healthy weight. I wouldn’t stress. I’m not an expert though so maybe someone else will chime in.

If you are not weighing the snake 'empty' every time-you are going to get numbers that seem odd.

There is a lot of variability in ball python growth. Unless you are rushing him to breed--as long as he is eating: I wouldn't worry. :)

I agree. Don't rush to breed anyway. It leads to sick snakes most of the time. He should be fine. As long as he's eating, moving, basking, not over eating and pooing... should be fine.
