    Fasting
monty hasnt eaten in seven weeks ive tried diff rat sizes and even have a mouse that im offering to him i off about 3 times a week so as not to stress him out. could it be that hes just not hungry? the longest he ever went before was three weeks but that was after eating an enourmous rat and the last feed i gave him was a pretty small one so whats the deal?

first.. he's a ball python.. they do this.

    second.. it's winter.

Only offer once a week.. not three times. That's a lot.. actually could stress him a bit.

Make sure all your temps humidity etc are all correct.

Temps - 82-84 one side, 92-94 on the other, 24 hours a day ... check the min/max on your digital thermostat to make sure temps aren't dropping at night when homes get cooler

Humidity - 50% - 60% ... home heating systems kick on in the winter and make rooms very DRY.

Light - light cycles can effect eating habits ... 14 hours on 10 off might get him back in the mood to eat.

Never fear. Hades did this when I first got him last year in the winter. As long as he isn't losing any significant weight and he doesn't look dehydrated he'll be fine. As Shelby said, only try feeding once a week. Mine kicked out of it after 2 1/2 months and didn't lose a bit of weight :)

My Monty joe went off feed for 6 1/2 months last year and I couldnt see any weight loss. And as of today he has refused for the second week. This is about the exact time that he went off feed last year so I guess I better get use to it.

I still handle mine even though he is not eating, though less often, but am not sure if it hampers anything or not. I will let Adam answer that one.
