Lowest temperature possible on cold side

I know there are many posts about temperatures on the Internet about red tail boa’s however I just need to ask this what is the lowest temperature that the colder side should be at I’m pushing 74 1/2 to 75 in a glass enclosure? Without buying a new bulb for the cold side what are some ways that I can get it up to that degree if it needs to go up that high I do have a heat tape And another thermostat that I can use?

I see some people have said 75 and I see some people have said 80 I’m confused

If I need to raise the temperature would I be able to take the heat tape put it on top of the enclosure pointing down just on the cold side? Will there be enough heat pointing down or would it be better to put it on the side?

Heat tape only heats the glass it's in contact with. Putting it overhead or on the side will do nothing.

Heat works most efficiently when the heat source is below the enclosure.

My ambient room temps average 75-77 during the summer but they get as low as 68 during winter. I usually close the A/C vent in the summer to keep the critter room a little warmer than the rest of the house. If your ambient temps are 74-75 and your snake has access to a hot spot of 86-90 I wouldn't be too concerned.

So will I need to raise the ambient air temp on the colder side?

I agree with Ziggy, it shouldn’t be an issue. My snakes hardy ever get on the hot side, especially my Boas.

Now if by chance your Boa starts spending most of the time basking in the hot spot, then you may want to raise the ambient and cool side temps.

Are you using a screen lid?

If so you can start out by sealing off most of it to retain heat and humidity.
