    Che vs heat tape
So I recently got a boa red tail and I’m using a 150 watt che. Wouldn’t it be cheaper for me to use heat tape if I didn’t have much substrate? How much more energy would I be using If I’m doing the 150 watt che compared to the 12 watt heat tape?

Depending on where you live and what kind of the you keep your house you may need both. Probably not now, since we're approaching summer, but perhaps when the weather cools.

Heat temp is primarily designed to create a hot spot, while CHEs are designed to raise ambient temps and/or provide a basking area for reptiles that bask.

Unfortunately, there's no "one size fits all" answer since we live in different places with different climates, as well as keep our houses different temps.

Friendly reminder: ALL HEAT SOURCES SHOULD BE REGULATED BY A THERMOSTAT.
