I use one usually. Sometimes I have to overlap a bit to make sure the entire cage bottom is covered. Snakes that like to burrow in the newspaper get more.

i use between 4-6 depending on the snake and the enclosure. some of my snakes can soak a rather large area so i like for them to be able to find a dry spot until i see that their enclosure needs to be cleaned.

so you use just one sheet of newspaper at a time and that doesn't get totally soaked?

it gets totally soaked some of the time. I also usually check in every hour or so....so the amount of time that the soaked bedding stays in the enclosure is very limited ;)

actually, the grooves in the bottom of the tubs kinda limit the amount of 'wetness' in the newspaper...if it is a big one, usually only 1/4 of the bottom is damp....

depends on the tub and how it is heated .... I like more paper if I can to soak everything up and also provide many layers for the balls to "dig" through, but temps are important too and with belly heat, too many layers could effect the temp of your "warm side".

I'm thinkin of changing to repti-bark. How is that for transmitting heat, from an heat mat, under a tub?
