Humid hide with tank set up?
I'm a fairly new bp lover. I have a lavendar albino bp, Georgie. I'm setting up a glass terranium for him to be transferred into. (Hes currently in a tote but with our home and children it's best to be in a tank) we already have the tank enclosed on 3 sides with a homemade cabinet. I have a radiant heat panel w/thermostat controller to control his ambient air temp and we use heat tape w/its own thermostat control for his heat spot. I currently have a repta-fogger set up w/humidity controller however I feel like it kicks on way to often. I'm afraid that he would be breathing in too much moisture and it would cause a RI. So we went ahead and put in the water bowl that will be used. I'm interest in adding some moss to help as well. Which is where a humid hide comes into play. I've also heard I could use it as a decor item and it would do the same, anyone have experience with this? Does moss have to be replaced every so often? (Also the screen for my cage is already at max coverage to still get adequate air flow))

Hey, welcome to the hobby & forum. Please do give us pictures of Georgie. :)

You can literally just put sphagnum moss on the top layer of substrate in the enclosure and it'll do the trick for you. Alternatively, but not as pretty, you could get a plastic pot with holes poked in the lid and fill it with sphagnum moss, or as you said, just put it over decorations, in their hide, etc. If it's going in with the substrate or over decorations (Georgie may drag it off the decorations) where you may not be easily able collect it when it's cleaning time, you'll probably just throw it away every time you clean the enclosure. But you can keep sphagnum moss for 2-3 months, perhaps sooner if it starts to smell real bad.

I tried to attach pictures of him, but for some reason it wont let me. I'll show pictures as soon as I figure out how to correctly do so.

What I did with great success was simply put damp moss in each hide, not make a special one. This gave great sheds.

If it got soiled I would simply rinse and wring but occasional would rip that section off to toss.

I use the Frog Moss and the XL box last me a long while.

Upload the image to imgur or another image hosting site, right click Copy Image Location & then put that between (IMG)URLHERE(/IMG) tags, but swap the parenthesis for square [ ] brackets. :)

You can also simply upload it to your profile here. Then go to that page for that pic and in the bottom right is will have a img link you can copy/paste into threads.

Thanks guys! I'll be getting some of the moss to try it out, and here is Georgie. :) He's primarily white and yellow right now. As he ages and grows his white will turn a light lavender color. His head area is already starting to get the color change.
