    Carpet Python Eating A Bat
"Large Python Eating a Bat! 😲
Its always interesting to watch a Carpet Python eating a bat and the challenge they face of trying to swallow it. As you could imagine bats wouldnt go down to easy however they are an important part of a large pythons diet!"

Wow didn't realize bats were part of the snakes diet :O

Link is to Sunshine Coast snake catchers Facebook page, other post about snakes on there too.

Almost makes me gag just thinking about it...but snakes can't be too picky. And even Trans Pecos rat snakes (in the desert Southwest of U.S.) eat some bats too.

This is an older article or a new version of an article from the past, as it happens frequently.

Coastal carpets will routinely take flying foxes.

They will eat just about anything they can. Cane toads, not so much, but coastal carpet pythons and many other species in the carpet group will take huge prey items.

There is a video out somewhere showing a coastal eating a dog and the leash was still attached to the dog.

I honestly find carpet pythons to be some of the most amazing snakes out there because many of them can adapt very well to human encroachment. They aren't true "giant pythons", but they eat like they are.

    I like seeing this again.

Wow! That seems strange the snake would eat that... Good job on all involved in saving the snake :gj:

Some snakes have swallowed golf balls too...apparently mistaking them for eggs? :(

This was the story about the dog.

    Look at that giant coastal!

The dog chain was still in the snake's mouth.

If you have a small pet in this part of town, I'm thinking its best off indoors if you aren't supervising it.

The dog owner took this pretty well all things considered.

And, it was not an automatic death sentence for the snake which is often the case.

Looks like the owner realized her mistake, Still sad though

"She realised that she had made a dreadful mistake. She hadn't thought about the possibility of a snake taking the dog," she said."

    Valid point here too...

""It's tragic the number of injuries we see from people attacking snakes. Carpet pythons are the good guys. They eat all the rodents that people don't want in their houses - the carpet pythons eat all the food so the other more poisonous snakes aren't going to hang around if there's a carpet python about."

(I realize that should be venomous not poisonous, I just quoted the article)

I just people wouldn't automatically hate a snake without knowing anything about them.:(

Bats are amazing. I wish you could have them as pets, but they're just not made for that.
