Thermometer probe placement

Hello all!

As a newbie I am looking for advice for thermometer probe placement, does the entire thermometer unit go inside the tank and then the probe+wire goes under the substrate to the hot side of the tank? Does the thermometer placed on the cool side measure the ambient temperature of the tank?

Thermostat probe goes between the UTH and bottom of enclosure.

They asked for thermometer placement, not thermostat. They could have them confused but if so, the thermostat probe goes sandwiched between the glass and UTH.
