Ball pythons with round pupils?
Hello,
My juvenile (150g) super lesser has round pupils, opposed to slit pupils.
Does anyone here have experience with this?
Do they juveniles grow out of it and develop slit pupils later in life?
Also it may be worth mentioning that my BEL's eyes are predominately red, the pupil is bright red, and the red pigment bleeds through parts the blue iris section as well. Upon closer inspection one can tell that the iris has blue pigment; however, I have asked a few friends and my parents what color they see my snakes eyes as, and so far everyone has said red.

I don’t think any animal could do that...so no(lol). That would require some serious biological mutation/shifting.
Some photos might help? It could be something more serious. Ball pythons are nocturnal so round pupils just don’t make sense.
I’ve only heard of red eyes from albinos..? So sounds odd...but please send photos. That would be very helpful.

What happens when you vary the light his eyes are exposed to? Pupils open or close in response to the amount of light, & any pupils that stay "fixed" means you're dead. ;)
Slit pupils minimize the excessive sunlight -because snakes don't have ears to hold their sunglasses on - while darkness causes their pupils to open to let in more light...so they can see better to hunt at night, for example.
Whether round (like humans & many snakes have- like Trans Pecos rat snakes) or slit pupils (like rosy boas & others have), they all function the same way in response to light.

Trans Pecos rat snakes are very nocturnal too...and they have round pupils! ;) :snake: Just an example...there isn't a hard "rule" about this, fyi.
