Moss in Bioactive

Back in January I converted our two tanks over to bioactive and everything went great except for the moss. The moss just became too dried out with the use of a heat lamp and I really don't want to switch to ceramic. A UTH isn't enough by itself in the winter months where I live. Any advice for how to allow a second batch to survive would be appreciated.

well you shouldnt be using the red bulb. And a CHE are perfectly fine? they arent that expensive on amazon

It's a dark room where the only source of light for the plants is the lamp. Hence why I don't want ceramic. Ceramic with an additional fluorescent source isn't an option because the breaker for that power strip has enough issues as is without adding two more lights to it. From the lack of responses I'm assuming the moss just isn't gonna happen and move on.
