Hints in getting female that just laid eating

Hello, this morning I found my first clutch of eggs, bamboo x citrus pastel fire. I’m super excited about the eggs but want to male sure the mom is doing good. So I’ve washed the snake and moved her to a new home with fresh everything. I plan on offering her a rat pup that is just short of being weaned Saturday. Any other advice?

A rat put is way to small for a BP that just laid, a rat pup is what I feed 250 grams snakes, you need to offer the appropriate prey size.

Okay, thanks I was worried she wouldn’t be as aggressive as a feeder after she laid. Sometimes when one of my snakes goes on off food, maybe after a shed, a slightly smaller prey item has gotten them eating again.

She may or she may not the problem you can encounter with feeding something too small is that she might not recognise it as a prey or think it is worth the effort, so you do not want to go too small, I usually start my females back on small rats and increase back to their normal size from then on.

Some females will start back right away, some might take a week or two and some will resume feeding right about the time your clutch start to hatch.
