"That feeling when rattlesnakes pop out of the bluebonnets ... @jimmyjamesjr86caught these 2 male Diamondbacks sparring over a female," TPWD wrote on its Instagram post.

How cool! :snake: I love rattlebrats.

Towards the end of the video they appear to be distracted by their photographer though...;) "Geez ppl, can't we even tussle in peace?"

I saw this on Facebook earlier, what an absurdly scenic sparring site! Fits the theme of Easter very well :D These two rattlesnakes look very strong and healthy and gorgeous, glad to see they are doing well. I love how "civilized" their sparring is considering they could bite each other! I just find it hilarious that the competition involves seeing who can stand taller and trying to knock over the opponent

They don't like to waste venom on stuff they can't or don't want to eat. ;) Yes, very "civilized". :gj:

Makes sense! Plus I guess the venom doesn't really work on animals of the same species. The wrestling looks like it can be just as taxing as using venom though sometimes. Here's another amazing fight caught on camera—even the other wildlife in the area were mesmerized!

You wouldn't say that if you ever saw the medical effects of a venomous bite. (& no, I've not had any bites personally, but there's lots of good
documentation for those with a strong stomach)

And venom would NOT be a good thing 'delivered' to the body of another rattlesnake either. I have seen one sidewinder kill another
accidentally (they were co-habbed): the one was sleeping & the other moved & received a defensive bite to the head & died promptly.
It was not intentional, just a response to the motion...they previously showed no malice.
