Heating inside enclosure HELP!!!

Hi, so i have had my bp for a few months now I just upgraded from about a 10 gallon tank to 40 which came with a heat pad and I put in a 40 watt bulb but lately all he does is stay under the cool side rock and after he fed he slept in the warm side for a few hours near the corner. Is it possible that the light and heating pad are too much? Should I move the light to the cool side?

Without knowing your temps there's no way we can help you.

Is your heat pad regulated by a thermostat so it doesn't overheat and burn your snake?

How old is the snake, what size and what sex is it. Besides the temps, the size of the enclosure alone could be causing stress depending on the size of your BP.

There are 2 main factors, the enclosure and the temperature.

Make sure that your enclosure is the right size. As a good estimation, your bp length should be equivalent or between, the length of one side(longest side) of the enclosure, to the length and width combined. If you find that the enclosure is too large, you can block off a portion of the enclosure or add more clutter.

For your temperature, keep the hot side between 30-33 Celsius, and ambient of 25-28. Lots of people also recommend to not exceed 32.2 Celsius on the hot side, but I keep mine at 33 because I live in a country with cooler temperatures and low humidity. Just be sure to not exceed past 33.3 Celsius.

One thing I’d also like to mention is your hides. It might be that your bp feels more safe in your cool side hide and feels too exposed on the hot side one. An ideal hide should be opaque and has a one sided entrance. Better if it has a small entrance that’s a little bit bigger than the biggest circumference of your snakes body. You also don’t want too large of a hide either, as long as your bp fits a little more than half of the space, or more than you’re good to go.
