Hey everyone. Hope everyone’s doing ok during this difficult time in the world! Quick question, my Male BP is currently 170grams. My local pet shop has suffered with people stockpiling frozen food and they only have small weaner rats available. My question is, would that size rat be too big for my BP?

Yes - assuming that their small weaned rats are 30-45 grams.

I think a weaned rat would be a large meal for your BP but not too big. I'd feed the smallest ones first. In a month or two they'll be just the right size.

    Hi I am Snek
Weaned rats are OK, they're large but not TOO big for your snake. A couple of mine are just a little bigger than yours (180-ish grams) and they are eating them just fine. :)

Like the previous poster said, try to get smaller ones and it'll be good.

If the feeder size is on the larger side you could also push out the interval between feedings to every 10 days instead of every 5-7 days.

Check local forums on facebook an the like for rodent breeders an snake groups. Somebody will have extra. I've been feeding snakes in three States the last few weeks. Yes, the other two States are 20 an 2 miles from me.

    Good luck!
