Traveling

Ok so I have to travel this next week for thanksgiving break. I'm leaving Friday {tomorrow} and coming back the next sunday. Since I live in a college town everyone else is leaving too, it will shortly be a ghost town. My question i guess has two parts. First, would it be better to stress the snake out with a 4 hour car ride than leaving him for a week?

I'm assuming that I should indeed take the snake for my next q. What exactly is the best way to travel by car with a snake, hes about 2 feet long so it shouldn't be that hard... but what are the particulars?

What kind of setup do you have? Do you have a thermostat? Or does it require a lot of monitoring?

the only monitoring/maintience i can really think of is fresh water daily... all my temps and humidity levels are constant

if your sure that his temps and humidity are gonna be in the proper range the WHOLE week and you just give him a lot of fresh water before you leave i think he'll be fine.

Just a question? Is it not ok for a snake to travel? I'm thinking it would stress them out, but if you kept the temps and humidity levels right...would it be ok to still travel with the snake?

It's really not the best thing for them. Changing environments and temperatures greatly increases the animals natural level of stress and chance of becoming ill. This time of year in the mid-atlantic and northern states is especially bad for taking snakes outside of their normal environments.

You're certainly taking a risk by traveling with your ball python.
