    Ball python tank sizes
Hello, I have had my two ball pythons in bins for a while but am deciding to move to glass terrariums. I was looking at a 20 gallon long that is 30 long and 12.5 wide for my adult male ball python he is about three foot long will this be good I saw a 40 gallon as well but it was only a couple more inches larger.

I also have a younger ball python who is only a few months old and was hoping to buy her the same enclosure hoping that she will grow into it.

Please any advice would be great have a nice day! :snake::)

The 20 gallon long would be good for the younger one but you should get at least the 40g breeder for the adult and plan to upgrade the female as she gets older.

At the minimum the 40g should be ok as long as he doesn't get much bigger. In my opinion (and I am sure there are many on here who would disagree) they need an enclosure big enough for them to fully stretch out. At 3 ft the 36in tank may be ok as long as he doesn't grow much more. My ball is in a 20g long at the moment and he is as best as I can get a measure around 27in. I intend to upgrade to a 48inx24in enclosure when I get the money saved up to buy it. They can be expensive. Make sure if you get the 40g breeder that you monitor your temperatures and humidity as it could be a bit hard to keep those at the right levels.

Normally they’re 36x18 I thought. I’ve had my male bp in an exoterra 40 for years and it’s worked great. Although you can always go larger.
