Mouth rot? Scale rot? Or just dirt?
So i made a previous post on my ball python, and i have still been unsuccessful with
getting some stuck shed off his chin. I’m extremely worried because it has begun to become discoloured - i can’t tell whether it is dirt, because it will often go a murky brown to normal, or it is some type of rot? And does anyone have any techniques to remove stuck shed off a head shy ball python? he is taking all his meals and is as active as normal. Sorry for the huge image 😅

Confine him for a while in a ventilated 'critter cottage' with a very damp towel- he may work it off himself, but if not, it should soften with increased humidity & it's up
to you to help him get it off. Gently restrain his head, be both gentle & firm, & above all persistent. Lack of photo doesn't help, but sounds like the old skin is just a
little stained, but it does NEED to come off. Be sure you always check that eye-caps & tail tips shed properly too. Might be time to re-evaluate the humidity in his
enclosure, & maybe offer a humid hide (midway between warm & cool ends of cage) & be sure to check it every few days so it doesn't dry out.

He has a humidity box full of sphagnum moss which he frequently uses, his humidity is 54% and i have tried to restrain his head before but he is only 6 months old and so has quite a small head which i don’t want to damage in any way. I will try the confined box method though, thank you! And yes he got off his eye caps and tail, don’t worry - i would post a photo but i don’t know how lmao
