Extreme Thermostat Malfunction - ADVICE NEEDED.
    Good Evening All,

I keep my ball pythons in rack systems with heat cable running underneath the back of the tubs.
One of my thermostats malfunctioned today and when I walked into my snake room all of my snakes in that particular rack were in the front - Not distressed or desperate but I could see they were all trying to cool off. When I checked my temp reading the back of the tubs were at 131 Fahrenheit!! Instantly dropped power to the rack and pulled the snakes out.

I checked them all and none of them were burnt or overly red in coloration - But I would like to know if there are any other symptoms I should look out for? Tonight was feeding night and all the snakes that were effected rejected food (Luckily one of my new racks so only 3 snakes had been moved over).

I have already moved them over to a different rack and ordered a new thermostat but I would really appreciate some tips on what I can look out for with my snakes.

Tomorrow I was thinking of giving their enclosure a spray down to increase humidity and give them a cool down - figured giving them some extra hydration could not hurt.

I'm guessing the front of the tubs were around 104 but I pulled them all out so quickly that I didn't think to check.

    Thanks in advance!

Neuro problems would be the biggest issue going forward. Look for any signs of wobbling, difficulty moving, etc.

Thank you for the advice - I'll monitor their behavior closely over the next few weeks.

What kind of thermostat was it? Did you figure out how or why it happened? Glad you caught it early.
