    Should I Be Concerned?
So I feed my Ball Python frozen mice once a week (I buy the “Gourmet Rodent” brand that Petco carries). And after i thawed it out, i opened it up and almost freaked out. The dead mouse had blood all over it as if it had been beaten in the head multiple times. The blood was dark red on the head and continued to get a bit lighter as you travel down to its tail. Should i be concerned at all at what i just witnessed? Is this normal? This is my 4th time ever feeding my snake so maybe this is a normal thing but i’ve never seen that before.

I gas an freeze my own, ASF an rats. Sometimes I'll have some blood come out the nose, but not much. You could was the mouse off. Your snake won't care.

    Good luck!

Not out of the ordinary. Your snake could care less.

It's not uncommon but it's usually not a lot of blood. Those pet store mice are pretty expensive. Have you considered buying online? It's usually less expensive even with only one snake.

Gourmet rodent is very expensive and they are underweight, at least in the Petco near me. With regards to your concern, I would say when in doubt dont risk it. A rodent as far cheaper than what you already invested in your BP. Try searching for reptile a local reptile store in your area and find out if they have frozen mouse or better yet a rat. Online feeders are cheaper, if you buy in bulk but snakes grow fast and they will easily outgrow a small rodent. Also try to search for reptile shows in your area they usually have feeders that are reasonably priced.

No big deal. It happens. Check out Rodent Pro. They arent even 1/2 as much as stores.

I did a few videos on different frozen rats.

I ended up with reptiledeli.com. I know breed a bunch of my own but still have to get frozen to offset but if a local show is not available then I go back to reptiledeli.com.
