fasting and feeding

my fire pied male stopped eating in January, since then ive tried rats, mice, chicks, gerbils and multi`s. so three weeks ago I started tube feeding him a chickens egg beat up with some nutrabal for the calcium once a week as he was losing a lot of weight, I even started pairing him with one of my pieds hoping it would kick his feeding response into gear. I have moved him several times into different parts of the room cleaning his rub and tube feeding him again, then this afternoon I offered him another live multi and he struck it and ate. so im wondering was it the tube feeding or breeding or moving him that motivated him to eat. so should I pull him from breeding or what as he needs some weight put back on :D

Not the tube feeding this can actually be so stressful that it can make it worse, moving however is an old technic use by old timers, some will go as far as shipping their snake to someone else to get it back on track.

You often do not have to go to that extent a simple 30 min car trip and or husbandry change will often do the trick, so will feeding more conservatively especially for a male to prevent long term fast.

A snake can go well over a year without food and tube feeding is not something I would recommend or do unless the snake is dying.

How much weight has been lost?

So does taking a snake on a road trip occasionally helpful in kickstarting a non feeder ??

Why on earth would it help. ?

It does I have done it several time with animals with which everything else had been tried and failed.

Why does it help? It could be a break in the routine, movement, change of environment no one knows but it does, and it's been used by people who have been doing this for long time whether it's for feeding issues or breeding (getting stubborn animals to breed)

People are usually skeptical about this, I was until it worked with several animals of mine.

Well at least I know not to get too excited if my snakes decide to skip a meal or 2 or Ten

I find that amazing it just didn't want to eat for 15 months :O
