Do you ever mention your snakes in non-snake forums?
In another forum I'm on there was a thread about Christmas presents, what you wanted, what you were planning on giving, etc. I mentioned that I'm buying another snake for myself. Surprisingly the reaction wasn't entirely negative, and I found out at least two other members of that forum were also snake keepers.

The majority of people I meet and coworkers find our hobby odd. Occasionally you’ll find someone that thinks it’s cool but I haven’t met many people at all that are into reptiles like “us”. Kinda a bummer as it really shouldn’t be perceived as a taboo hobby but it is.

Lol everyone I know gets to hear about my snakes. I get two different reactions, oh wow that’s cool, or only good snake is a dead one. And most of my friends that say dead snakes are good now love snakes after I prove to them my snakes will not bite and they feel really cool to hold.

I never mention having a snake to people I don't know well or aren't obviously also into snakes because sometimes the reactions can be quite negative. Some people are really afraid of them and get judgemental about it. I've had one person refuse to associate with me because I have a pet snake :(

There is always a post after mine that says 'Those things will get 30ft long and will kill you some day...' and that person will get a ton of 'thumbs up' clicks.

I post photos of them on other forums if they have a pets section or a random photo thread ....

Have we got a Random Photo thread-in off topic ?

If it comes up in a pet thread or something yet, otherwise no not really. I usually end up recognizing some usernames from forum to forum since I have a variety of animals.

I've told everyone at work about my snakes and I show them pictures. Everyone is cool about it and respect my choice of pets. I also correct any misinformation some might have.

It amazes me that people will see a juvenile corn snake and think it's got fangs like a Gaboon Viper and will kill you in less than a minute.
But a suprising number of young girls in there late teens think snakes are adorable and there mom won't let them have one.
