Probe placement

Setting up a new cage. Where is the best place to put my temp probe on the warm side? There will be heating pad under the cage on that side. Do I place the probe on the bottom of the cage there and just cover it with substrate? Willit hurt if the snake lays on the probe?
On the cool side I will have a RHP. The probe on that side maybe on the side of the cage about an inch from the bottom?

the probe for your uth always goes between the uth and the bottom of your enclosure. Not on the inside of your enclosure.

Just remember to get a temp gun or thermometer for inside the tank as the thermostat temp is NOT the temp inside the enclosure. I highly recommend a temp gun, makes life much easier. Also, take temps above substrate and below with temp gun. If your snake digs you don’t want them getting burnt or too hot.
