    Pre-shed or something else?
    Hey guys!

My 2 year old Spinner is pink! He always gets a little blush on his belly during pre shed, but he’s never been this pink. It’s uniform and he’s otherwise acting normal.

He’s on ReptiChip in a tub. Warm side is about 90 degrees, cool side 77 degrees. Humidity 60%

Does this look like pre shed or should I be worried it’s something more concerning?

I'm sure it just pre shed. I have an adult normal and he always gets darker and a little pink before a shed but one time he got bright pink! Like his entire belly looked like bubble gum. I think I actually asked about it in a thread a while ago because it made me as nervous as you probably are but it turned out just to be pre shed. It's only happened that one time so maybe it's just a random thing for them?

Looks like pre-shed to me too, something else like a burn wouldn't be that uniform.

Also, unrelated, but I love his goofy little face at the bottom of the second picture! :D So cute and you caught his tongue sticking out too

You could always check the warm side surface temps with a digital temp gun ..

Presuming all heat sources are regulated by a thermostat and any bulbs are guarded of course

You have 3 options here YOU need the one to decide which one it is.

    Shed

Reptichip (when damp) it will give bright snake a pink/orange color (depends on the original color of the snake and are damp it is)

Early stage of thermal burn due to unregulated or faulty t-stat

Interesting tidbit about the Reptichip! I hadn’t noticed it before.

My heat tape is regulated via a VE300 Thermostat. According to my heat gun, the hot spot ranges from 88-90
