    Burmese python with an RI
Hey everyone, so I had an incident where my heat source for my burm got shorted out and stopped heating. I didnt notice right away and now I think she has an ri. She is like any burm and loves to hiss when I take her out but now I can hear a gurgling popping sound. I called all the vets within 4 hours of my home and none work with reptiles. So I'm pretty much stuck with trying to treat this myself but have no idea on how to go about it. I'm at my witts end with what I can do and really dont want this girl to die because I cant get her treatment. Any help/advice would be appreciated.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8e95b4a9a1.jpg

Call the vets back and ask if they will be willing to see her if they can get a consult with an exotics specialist. SEAVS in Fairfax, VA will provide that service.

Unfortunately you're not in the US or you could just ship her to SEAVS to treat, and they would ship her back once she had recovered. Burms aren't legal to import into the US though, so that's not an option.

If you find an exotics specialist in Canada you can ask if you can have her shipped in for treatment.

I actually managed to find a vet about and hour or so away who works with snakes and lizards! thanks for that info though.

If she does have an RI, you want to do a tracheal/lung flush and have the fluid tested. You do not want to treat blindly. Know what you are dealing with and treat properly.

They also sell sensors that can alert you to dramatic changes in temperature. I would recommend one if you aren't able to check temps frequently.
