Scale Rot? Help!

I recently noticed a small dark spot on a couple scales under my ball python's mouth. I believe this is scale rot (?) but I want to confirm. I've been treating it by applying Neosporin with a q-tip and also Povidone-Iodine solution diluted in water, dabbed onto the spot with a q-tip. Any tips or insight will be greatly appreciated.

What you are doing will only make it worse, you need to learn when neosporin is needed and when it is not, and in minor issue like this it is not, all it will do is loosen up the scales.

Keep the enclosure clean and dry if you believe that you are dealing with scale rot however in my opinion you are not.

Scalerot tend to be first noticed and mainly located on ventral scales.

Your snake probably just scraped something abrasive in the cage...not a big deal. Agree with Deborah's post ^ ^ ^

Okay thanks, I'll stop applying the povidone-iodine and neosporin!
