This sounds bad for the reptiles
    Newest Petsmart ad

This doesn't sound good to me, I definitely will NOT be taking any reptiles there!!

Sounds like lots of fun for the humans, lots of stress for the poor reptiles

Yup, horrible idea!!!!! Just goes to show how little the chain stores actually know about the animals they sell. It's a marketing ploy to sell more animals, with zero concern for the animals well being.

I've seen a couple of these (only it was at a local Petco). My biggest concerns are the potential sharing of mites or un-diagnosed diseases. Overall it was fun &
friendly, but too crowded...I don't think it's a good idea standing too close to others with snakes of all sizes, mostly large ones. Yes, it's largely to promote
the store's sales but it's a chance for people with uncommon pets to meet & talk with others keeping the same sort of things. In my area, snakes & reptiles are
NOT common pets. Overall I'd say there are pro's & con's...I much prefer to do a public meet & greet with my snakes being the only ones there to worry about,
but this does generate some general enthusiasm for the keeping of snakes/herps. Some come to the store unaware of the event, & either are thrilled or terrified. ;)

I'd go check that out and see how well it's run, but tomorrow's a working day for me so it's a no go for me

I think the informative part is fantastic. I'm all for people learning about the animals we love so much. But bringing your animals to the store is just asking to bring something undesirable home, like mites.

It also puts the store and the animals in the store at risk. One person brings a mite riddled snake in the building and there could be a storewide outbreak.

If I were to attend, I definitely wouldn't be bringing any of my animals. And I'd treat it like an expo. Strip down before walking in the house and straight to the shower. I'd be too afraid of hitch hikers.

My issue is yes u can get mites and other nasty unknown stuff but at a place like PetSmart a lot of people bring big dogs that sometimes they can’t control very well when it wants to suddenly check something out. I would want to see a 100 pound person trying to stop a 75# dog from checking out a big snake or any animal for that matter. Odds are it won’t happen but it would be so bad if it did

I’d go and check it out but u wouldn’t see my snakes up there.

I was buying rosy reds for my snapper, and the employee was asking about my other pets and saying I should bring them in.

I said I'd think about it. It was a short thought.
