I love the dollar store!!

I just picked up these lovely little things from the dollar store. The hides I had just weren't cutting it for two of my new babies, since they refused to use them. Since I was just at Walmart yesterday, I figured I'd try the dollar store today and low and behold I found these (sold in pairs)! Whip out the handy dandy soldering iron, and instant hide!! They're pretty cool. Just thought I'd share my little find. :psychotic

So far so good. I did have to plop it over them, but once inside they were happy campers. I tried the same thing with the others, and they still came out and laid on top!! Silly things. They're not see thru like most to the containers, so I just figured they'd be perfect. I got an extra set to use as water bowls as well.

The dollar store has tons of cool stuff. It's usually a shock when you go into a dollar store expecting the bill to be a couple bucks, and end up spending like 20. Eep. Today it was only $3 so I was proud of myself. :stupidme:

nice find! last time i was at the dollar store i picked up several sets of bowls in different sizes that i'm using for hides. waaaay cheaper than buying individual hides from the pet store!

Brannagh the biggest female is funny! She looks like a turtle with her black rubber dog bowl hide on her back :rofl:

Mom says we have to find another idea for a bigger hide for her really soon.

I went to the Dollar Store today hoping to find this, but couldn't find it anywhere. Do you happen to remember what it was close to? Although I know they don't always carry the same things.


I did SCORE with a soulder gun today for $5 at WalMart and bought a nice little container for transporting Kashmire in while he's still small and plan to soulder some holes in it.

I stood in the Sterilite aisle at Walmart totally confounded about what size to get. the 34" long ones seemed too narrow and the lids don't really snap on well (tried to call you Joanna to see which you use, but your phone was busy....sniffle...). Just left without one.

But did get a TOO CUTE outfit for a little girl from the Angel Tree at work. My goodness clothes and toys are expensive! Just on an outfit, socks, shoes and two toys was close to $60. ACK!!!!!! But this child is supposedly a transplanted Katrina child.

I believe it was in an aisle with glassware and plastics. Right in the middle of lots and lots of rubbermaid like containers, but I don't know if that will help. It's a drawer organizer and come in a pack of two.

Ooops sorry the line was busy....likely me sneaking some computer time or my 14 year old and his buddy who are migrating from the computer to the Xbox LOL (did force them outside to tidy the yard and rack leaves with the promise of homemade garlic bread to go with the spaghetti and meatballs!)

I been reading all this dollar store stuff so I went myself yesterday. I picked up a bunch of hides and containers to take my lizards taveling with when I go to my sons school this week. I also found something else that might interest people. Every one talks about the balled up newspaper in a cage to make a new snake feel more comfortable. I got a whole bunch of fake plant vines to line snake cages with. I figure it would be more attractive for display type cages and still make the snake feel sneaky and secure.

Just be careful with those vines. I've gotten them and they have some very sharp wire. I just removed them and substituted some zip ties. Otherwise they work great!! :D
