    Do I need sphagnum moss?
I'm making a humid hide for my new bp, as he will surely start to shed soon. I'm wondering if I need sphagnum moss for it, or if paper towels will do? If I do need it, what is it and where can I get it (pet store, garden center etc)?

My bp is about 20" long and feeding well. I've had him for about a month and he hasn't shed yet. According to the feeding record that came with him, the last time he shed was September 6th. That's over 2 months now. Is that unusual? Should he have shed before now? He's still showing no signs of doing so.

I just use paper towels in my humid hides. No print and non bleached if possible :)

We just use plain old white paper towels dampened slightly and checked daily. Some snakes will use a humid hide, some won't but it's a good thing to try.

Should the humid hide be left in the viv all the time or is it better to just put it in around shedding time?

Also, is the fact that he hasn't shed in over 2 months, being a young snake, unusual? Should I worry? I seem to be doing a lot of worrying since I got my bp!

if the humidity in the enclosure is around 50-60% normally then you don't need the humid hide except during shed time.

he will shed when he needs to--it all just depends on how much and/or how fast he is growing. nothing to worry about. :)
