    Temps
Hi'all just wondering if by chance the temps of my tank should be risen any. they seem to be staying around 70-71 in the middle of big 55g octagon tank. I have a heat pad stuck to the back side of it and it doesn't seem to be getting any warmer, maybe to much air flow around it. Heat pads usually only work well when under something and between something else (ie shelf or counter), but I was just checking. The reason is that one of them seems to have a shaded area on their belly...??? Could this be do to poor temps. They always feel cold to the touch, well not cold, but cool anyways.

I could just be used to handling snakes and their warmth

    Thank you,
    ~Jim

Those temps sound fine. They can range from high 60s to very low 80s.

Now about that shaded area. I'm not even sure I understand what you are trying to describe. Is it just a darker area or is there a difference in texture? Can you take a picture?

The geckos will feel cooler than the snakes. They are all going to feel about the same as their environment. Which means the geckos are about 10 degrees cooler than a cool bp. Did that make sense?

yeah that temperature really is fine for cresteds. if in the future you want to breed them you will most likely want to raise the temp a little or give them a warmer basking spot but for now it's fine.

cresteds can have all kinds of pattern and color variation--are the scales on its belly just darker than the others? a pic would be most helpful. :)

Yeah I can't get the little bugger to stay still though. Thanks. I'll keep trying on the pics.
