Hard To Believe He Still Fits.

Wallace is a decent size for a male, Dwarf X SD X minimal mainland, retic.

He's easily an 8 footer, maybe even 9. While certainly not a giant in relation to the mainland animals, he's plenty to handle solo for me.

Recently he stopped using his hide and I was considering removing it from the cage post cleaning session.

After the cleanup that included adding brand new bedding, the boy surprised me.

A healthy reticulated python typically ends up looking lean and agile. Wallace is in that category which is why he is able to cram himself into the tortoise shell hide. I honestly thought he was just too large.

I'm going to make cleaning a more frequent event for this particular snake. He seems to have settled a great deal since I changed things out, although the temps here have dropped a lot and that may have contributed to his more laid back demeanor.

This photo is from the day I cleaned. He was interested in his hide the moment he went back into the cage, at least for a minute of two. Notice his length in comparison to the cage and hide.

Although Wallace ended up a bit larger than I wanted him to be, he's still manageable but certainly not for an inexperienced handler.

Nothing earth shattering here. I'm just surprised this semi-big fellow can still fit in his hide.

Well snakes love cramped places to hide, so it seems your hide is still perfect to him haha!

If he's anything like my snake he'll stay attached to his hide till you are forced to get rid of it when something like this happens:

My little Crowley had the option of a bigger hide but loved his little one even after outgrowing it. I felt bad taking it away but it had to be done. As for you snake he still looks like he fits cozy in there. It's surprising how much snake can fit in such a small hide.

Home sweet home even if it gets a bit cramped.

Wallace should be beyond his major growth stage at nearly 3.5 years old.

I'm hoping he keeps using the hide he has.
