    Rescued from a glue trap
Our pest control guy came into the main building today to tell us that he was finding snakes at one of our other locations. He brought one of said snakes with him (for whatever reason, maybe he thought we wouldn't believe him?) Poor thing was stuck to a glue trap but fortunately, still alive. When asked what he intended to do with it, he said he'd probably just kill it or throw it away, so I asked to keep it. I spent the next few minutes with some cooking spray and qtips and in all honesty, freeing the little guy was a lot easier than I expected. Now he's chilling in a little tupperware dish with a paper coffee cup hide. Once I get him home I'll give him a little bit of a bath to get the rest of the oil off him and then make a trip out to my favorite hiking area to let him go.

Anyone know what kind of snake he is? Looks like a garter of some kind, but I'm no expert.
Is there anything else I should do for him before letting him go?

Aww, poor thing. Great job saving it's life. I can't positively identify the critter but it looks like some sort of garter snake to me. I hope it fares better once you release it.

Hey, thank you so much for helping this snake! I'm not that familiar with what snakes are in your area, but great job! I'd ask them to save & bring the other snakes
they catch like this too? Poor snakes....:(

To me, it looks the most like either a queen snake https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/EndangeredR...ode=ARADB27040 or a lined snake
    https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/EndangeredR...ode=ARADB38010 but I can't tell for sure.

People are just so cruel sometimes, especially to those poor misunderstood snakes. I'm so happy to hear you saved its life. :)

Poor snake :( So glad you rescued him. Glue traps are so horrible, I don't think they should be used for any animal. I really hope the pest control guy hasn't been finding other snakes in the same state and killing or trashing them. After all, the snakes would be helping him with his job!

No clue what he could be, he looks very cool though.

I can only imagine how terrifying that must be...to be immobilized & picked up by 'giants' & carried around? :O Lucky it didn't have a heart attack, poor thing.

I couldn't agree more. Glue traps are the epitome of cruel and should not be used for any animal.

And those who use them should suffer the same fate. I'm guessing they'd stop using them if somebody tarred them to a wall...
