    Tank size and heating Mat
Hey guys, so I'm a bit confused on if the size of a heat mat compared to the tank size matters. Currently I have about a year old ball python in a 75 gallon tank with a 30-40 gallon size heater on around 87 degrees, so it goes through the glass pretty well but does it need to cover more of the tank underneath?? :clueless:(btw please don't worry about her being stressed in something so big, there's plenty of decorations and hides to make her feel safe in there)

The general "rule of thumb" is that your heat mat should cover roughly 1/3 of the enclosure floor.
