    Radiant heat panel
I have an animal plastics T8 (4’X2’X15”) coming hopefully in the next couple weeks. It will have heat tape for belly heat, but since the ambient temp in the room I keep my snakes is 78-80 I won’t have any additional heat. But this winter I’m sure the ambient in that room will probably fall to closer to about 72, so I want to have a radiant heat panel ready. My question is, would a 40 watt be enough to bring the ambient to where I need it in that size of cage.

Great Plan. Thats all I use are RHP. I have all Pro Panels in my enclosures. If I were you id get the 88 Watt (80 or 85 for other brands) so that you always have the power if you needed it. Its only about a $20 difference so Id rather be safe than sorry. Your Tstat will dial it in to what you need. I use a 88 watt on one of my Huge enclosures on the cool side, its set to 81. My Hot side is a 150 watt set at 91.
Look at it like this, if you Heat tape stopped working you would have the extra wattage to heat your entire enclosure. Thats my 2 cents.
PS: the T8 is only 12” high not 15”, thats the T10. If you have the choice, get the T10. Its really hard to clean a T8, you cant get your arms in because they are crazy low with a tiny 8” door hight.
15” makes all the difference in the world :)
