Question about tub setups.

So... I have been debating setting up a tub for Floyd. My only question is if you are placing it on wood do u need to put a spacer on the tub so that it isn't resting on the UTH, and the wood?

I am not sure if I understand your question correctly but my sterilite tub sits on the heat pad which sits on the wood of a shelf. If that helps. Just use a thermostat to regulate the heat pad so it doesnt get TOO hot.

Do you have to elevate the tub from the wood so the uth doesn't lie directly on the wood? I hope this makes more sense.

I like to use spacers underneath the tubs just to give the heat from the uth someplace to escape.

The space doesnt seem necessary. I dont know why youd want the heat to escape but. I guess depending on what type of wood it is could be an issue but its only going to be set to 90 degrees. Your skin is hotter than that so, whate er you set it on will be fine.

I use a DYI wooden frame to elevate my tub so the UTH isn't touching the floor. I use a Zoo Med UTH and the manufacturer's label says it requires space underneath to prevent overheating. Even if your UTH stays at ~90F temps, it will probably discolour any wood it sits on directly over time, so if you have your tub on the floor or some wooden furniture, that's another reason to leave space.

That is why I suggested a thermostat

I will add that if you're going to use a UTH on your tub I'd recommend the Ultratherms over most others. Even in the unlikely event of a thermostat failure they don't get hot enough to burn your snake or the tub. I think they top out at 105F. I've seen others hit 140.
