13 years later... Tool releases first track off new album

Here's the link for the first track Tool has released from their long awaited new album. It's been 13 years since I've heard new material from these guys. And I'm not disappointed. It's definitely Tool.

To me, it sounds a lot like the Aenima album with a twist. I didn't LOVE the track on the first listen, but I definitely dig it. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

    What do you think???

Wow! That's quite long. I wouldn't mind, as the older I get the more I enjoy something taking more than 2 minutes and 39 seconds to move me, but the change up at the 6 minute mark just takes the song in another direction completely and so it might as well be a different song. Nevertheless, a good first listen.

Still, I don't think they'll ever out do Stinkfist for me. That song is powerful and gentle, disturbing and thought provoking, all at the same time. Not to mention the video is just incredible. It's kind of like looking at a terrible car accident in which what lies in front of you is so surreal, that you can't avert your stare. Thanks for the link Craig.

RL, I agree, I felt like I was waiting forever for that intro to kick in to something more. From what I understand the album only has 8 or 9 tracks, all of them long.

I absolutely love the Opiate and Undertow albums start to finish. Aenima was solid too. All their videos from those albums are super cool.

Prison Sex, H, Forty Six + Two, Sober, Crawl Away, Eulogy, Stinkfist, Hush and Cold and Ugly are some of my faves.

Amazing live band too. The show is phenomenal.

It feels like I've been waiting FOREVER for them to release a new album! It's nice to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Tool just never did it for me but all my friends love them and they're stoked about the new material.
