As my name (Bogertophis subocularis) implies, I enjoy Trans Pecos rat snakes the most, but it's a tough call, there's lots of variety & competition...you know how
some days you like "oranges" better & some days you like "apples"?

I've got quite a variety and I switch back and forth day to day who is my favorite at the time, but the most frequent favorites are my boas, coastal carpet python, and my bull snake.

(Runners up are everyone else.. MBK, california king, corn snakes, gray banded king, honduran milk, KSB, ball pythons, and blood python.)

A boelens python is my ultimate dream pet so if have to say they would be my favorite. They're absolutely beautiful and get good size without being unmanageable.

For pure enjoyment and handling I really like my boas. They're small enough I can work with them comfortably on my own, and big enough that they feel like a "large" snake. They are also lower maintenance than my pythons; longer intervals between feedings = longer intervals between cleaning up messes.

Looking around my reptile room, you might think that bull snakes are my favorite - they certainly make up the bulk of my collection! That's partly due to my pursuing a particular project with sayi but such a deduction wouldn't be far off the mark. If my arm was truly twisted, I could probably narrow things down to Pituophis being my favorite genus as a whole. That said, I keep a fair bit of variety because everything brings something unique to the table that I really enjoy. My collection has also steadily shifted into the realm of colubrids over the last few years. The only non colubrids I keep these days are a pair of Aspidites but, to be fair, they act more like a cross between Drymarchon and Lampropeltis - not your typical python. Most of my keepers are pooping 2-3 days after a feed and looking for their next meal well before the seventh day. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment but on the plus side it's nice to have a few days each week where I don't smell poop when I walk into the reptile room. Everything pretty much eats and poops like clockwork with very little deviation.

I like any snakes that eats like a glutton.

The cool eyes and texture of their scales is a plus.

I love ball pythons the most, it's what I have (only got the one snake) and he is just so adorable. Ball pythons are not only cute but are docile and make for great pets.

I think they're a little hard to care for personally because of their high humidity requirement, but they're so cute haha.
