    Radiant Heat Panel Placement Question
    Hello,

I have a AP T8 that is divided into two enclosures. I have a 6" strip of heat tape running from left to right across the entire enclosure for belly heat and one RHP on each side to help with ambient temps.

I have them placed near the divider closer to the rear and I'm usually sitting at 80° - 82° in the front of the enclosure. I have looked online trying to find something about proper placement but I can't seem to find anything.

Should the heat panels be placed directly in the center of the enclosure?

I'm thinking so but just wanted other keepers opinions.

    Thanks for reading!

Sounds like your temps are good. In that case I’d say it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. [emoji106]
I’ve got a very similar set up right now for two very young boas. My T8 is split as well but one half has a 65watt pro heat panel for when the cage is undivided. I just run it at low power to supplement ambient temp as well. It’s pretty much centered on one half, other half has a 40watt RBI panel set closer to the divider, also just to supplement ambient temps. 11” heat tape running front to back along the center of the cage

I have a T8 as well, also with a divider... and my heat panels are also closer to the divider. Seems to work good for me... For the last 2 years or so.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b7e612c930.jpg

That is exactly how mine are set up. What do you set your temps at on your thermostat?

80° - 81° in the very front of the enclosure good enough temp wise?

Is 80° - 82° good enough in the front part of the enclosure?

Just don't want to cook my snakes or keep it too cool.

My left side goes from 75° to 85°. While my right side is 80° to 90°. Left is a MBK, right is a BP (although, building my T10 now for the BP). My temp probes are in the cool side for each half. I set the RHP for the cool-side temp, and it seems to work good.

Just a question and maybe I misunderstood but it sounds like you're basically heating the entire bottom of the cage. Do the snakes have a good way to regulate their temp? If the tape is towards the front or back, are there hides in both the heated and non heated areas for them to go?

The length of the cage with a 6” wide heat tape. 24” deep cage. 25% of the floor is heated
