    Heating problems
I'm having problems heating my enclosure. So I'm new to ball pythons I'll be getting one in about 2 weeks, but I cant seem to get the temperatures right. I have an ipower reptile heating mat hooked up to a century thermostat, and I'm using a tub enclosure. Using my temp gun the tub will read around 92-95 but the substrate will be like 78-82. I only have maybe half an inch of zoo-med forest floor substrate. Also the heating mat is under the left side of the tub with the thermostat prob being between the heat mat and the tub. I need help!

You want the bottom of the tub to be 88-90°, not the substrate above it. The snake will push bedding out of its way to reach the heat it wants.

No problem. You’ll just lower the temps til the bottom of the tub is reading 88-90°. Cool end of the tub should be about 10° cooler than the hot spot

Also should have mentioned, kudos to you for working on getting the enclosure set up well in advance of acquiring the animal.

I've got similar setups for mine and can't get them to temp at all.

    Century digital t-stat from Amazon?

Maybe if I had one for each tub I'd be doing better, but since I've got 7 now I went ahead and got flexwatt and VE-200.
