board games
what are some good games for 2 people to play? i just booked our 8th wedding anniversary trip to a cabin in the middle of nowhere. we usually just sit around reading and drinking a lot of coffee..and i always try to convince the husband to play monopoly which he HATES. we play cards sometimes but i was looking for suggestions on something new. we like horror stuff, nothing trivia-related...
i guess we could also take a puzzle.

If you enjoy the horror theme, one of my friends strongly recommended Ultimate Werewolf. There's also a shorter duration variant called One Night Ultimate Werewolf. Another fun one I recently played with friends was Codenames.

Blokus. It's a 4 player game that can be played with 2. Can be pretty fun

It's tough to find fun ones for only 2 people, these are fun:
Forbidden Island (another version - Forbidden Desert) - they are usually $20 or less on amazon
Castle Panic (another version - Dead Panic)
Dungeon Fighter

A little on the pricier side, horror themed, haven't played but heard good things:
Dead of Winter
Zombicide (start with base game)
Village Crone

Whoops, I somehow missed the whole initial "2 person" point of your question! Forgive my lapse in attention and reading comprehension, and save my suggestions for a group function, haha. However, there is a 2-person variant of Codenames called Codenames: Duet!

Also Rivals for Catan, the 2-person variant of Settlers of Catan. And there's always good old Mancala - the classic board and pieces are cool to look at, but a homemade DIY set can also be easily put together with egg cartons and some beads, beans or marbles ... or even Skittles or M&Ms, if either of you happens to be fond of candy. ;)
