Heating Questions

My question is: Why can't a waterbed heating pad be used for a rack system? They have a built in probe, thermostat, and heating element, so would it work? I can't see them getting hot enough to burn if it's ok'd for bed use. You'd think if it doesn't burn the boards under the bed that it wouldn't burn some melamine, but I want to know what all of you think. Jim

I have one.. it doesn't have a thermostat, but it burned my floor when set to the lowest it could go. It takes a lot of power to heat a lot of water.. and when it's sitting under the water the water absorbs most of the heat, not the boards of the bed.

It's also not meant to be on 24/7.. I wouldn't use one.

That makes sense. I didn't think of it that way.
