Which Accurite thermometer/hygrometer model is best?
Up until about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I was using the notorious AcuRite thermometer with a probe to read two temps and humidity all in one and it was working great. That was until my Ball python knocked it into his water..... :/
Now my zoo med digital thermometer is going out and the older AcuRite model is virtually gone and I can’t find anywhere to get it, unless if I spend like 30$ for a used one.
My question is, should I use two of the stand alone ones for 8$ each?

Or should I use one of the wired indoor/outdoor Acurites for 9$?

I’ve seen these two commonly come up in threads, but I don’t really know which one would work best or how they compare to each other.
    Thanks!

I also use the little stand-alone ones in the top picture. Pretty reliable, no cords to get tangled in, and can take a clobbering if your snake likes to knock them over. Also can stand up to a bit of water, as I found out during an accidental spill. The bottom sensor openings of the device got a bit waterlogged and it was reading 99% humidity for a bit, but after giving it a little help to dry out using the blowdryer on cool/unheated air setting, it went right back to normal functioning. (I put another Acurite next to it and compared their readings for consistency, just to make sure.) Also, I like the 24-hr min-max data it gives in addition to the current temperature and humidity readings.

Do you use one or two of them? I have a temp gun for the surface temps, so this is just for ambient temp and humidity.

I use two in all my enclosures except for my Hognose's little 10 gallon.

My snakes are in relatively small Sterilite tub enclosures right now, so I just use one Acurite per tub to track ambient temp and humidity, and monitor other temps regularly using the temp gun, as well as keeping an eye on the Herpstat probe readings.
