Do I need to put holes in the tubs for airflow?

it depends on your climate. maybe u can achieve ideal temps and humidity (and airflow) w/o any holes. test it out w/o any holes. and then if u need some, add holes little by little by drilling or soldering as needed. you can't undo the holes, but u can tape/cover them up/shut to help.

OK I was more wondering if they have enough airflow without holes? because my humidity here is LOW. like 30% getting to 60 or above is a chore. so the less holes I have the better.

no, u wont' get enough airflow. the gap between the top of the tub and rack is a narrow crack for obvious reasons (i.e. preventing escape) and u will need something like a fan. i know several breeders in AZ who have pro-grade racks like ARS w/ no holes in their tubs and they use a fan in their snake/reptile room to circulate the air.

OK, there is a ceiling fan in the room that is always on. is that sufficient? Do i need a fan pointing directly at it? btw thanks for all the help[ i appreciate it immensely.

no answer? I swear this is my last question for the next hour.... lol....

I'd say it depends on the rack what is enough or not. I'm not familiar with that brand/model. On racks, I've seen gaps ranging from basically none to 3/8" or so. And obviously it is different on a bigger gap than a smaller one.

I'd run it for a bit with water in place, no snake, and see if it "smells stale" when opened up. Not sure if this is a scientific way to do it or if just getting non-stale is adequate, but that's the only way I can think of to test air flow without any risks.

I think you'd be better off with a few holes in the tub and no direct fan as that will probably blow a ton of humidity out compared to just normal air movement in the room. I'd guess a room fan is probably good, but hard to say remotely.

I ended up putting some holes in the front of 2/4 tubs. I am testing it now.
