Head Like A Hot.
One of the qualities I like about most carpet pythons is the head development once they become fairly mature. The back of the head balloons up a bit and they actually resemble some venomous species.
Jewel is getting there and probably in another couple of years, she'll have the triangular head carpets are known for.

I've seen far more pronounced heads on other carpets however and if you have a nice shot of one of your animals, feel free to post it here. Zig and Reinz,, I know you guys have a few of these!

They remind me of the red queen from the alice in wonderland movie

I know what you mean about carpets with the large triangular heads. Mine aren't quite there yet. My coastal is a 2014 animal and my jcp is a 2015. Both of them still have pretty small heads.

Which one has the bigger melon there Zig?
One thing I have read about some of the coastals, is that that they sometimes have flatter heads.
Jewel has really been slow to develop the bulbous look in the back of the head.
Do you see any big differences in your carpets?

This is one of the things that drew me to carpets. I've heard that coastals have a slightly longer snout which in turn marks their head appear a little less blocky.

Yeah, as soon as I saw my first Coastal, Lizzy, my first thought was that her head sure looked like a venomous snake. Now she was 5 years old when I got her.
And the interesting thing that everybody says when they see her is, “wow, she has a big head!” And those are Non-snake people. I don’t even know any snake people except one I recently converted.
In fact, I almost named her Biggo, as in Big Ol’Head. But that didn’t sound very ladylike.
These pics don’t reflect the fact very well, but the best I could find for now.

I’ll try to take same shots of my younger Carpets when they strike a pose.

Well if like more of a schnozz on a snake, then an Aussie Olive Python would fit the bill. They have an elongated head.

G- I'd say the jungle has a slightly larger head but he's also slightly larger overall. I do think the coastal's head is a little flatter though. The biggest difference I've seen with my carpets is the coastal seems to spend more time on the ground than any of the others.
