    Gravid or not? So confused
Hi this is my first year breeding and so far 1 clutch of eggs in the incubator at day 53. My second female was due to lay on May 28 (that was her 30day mark after what I thought was her prey lay shed). She hasn’t dropped yet, she is still refusing food, refusing males, heat seeking, has the definitive ridgeback, and is laying inverted, but hasn’t gotten any fatter like my other female did. She is thicker than normal just not as big as my pastel who laid 9 eggs. Her weight before breeding was 2520 grams. I have a pic of her laying inverted just can’t figure out how to post pics

Looks like she could lay any day now, all my girls laid about 4 days after their due date this season lol keep checking her every day, good luck!

30 days is an average I have had females go as long as 50 days POS which of course those type of female needs to be monitored closely, the later they go the more dangerous it can be for the female .

Usually 35 days is fairly typical

Thank you, I’ve been quietly checking on her several times a day but not enough to spook her. With today being day 37, I was hoping she doesn’t become eggbound.

One of the problems I have encountered over the years are that the snakes have never read the books on their husbandry so they can be off by a couple of days ( to a week+ ) every now and again. :P

I'd pay attention to how close to the vent the eggs feel - if they are 5+ inches from the vent you probably have a few days to wait.

Still no eggs, still watching her close. She seems so restless twisting herself in pretzel knots. At one point today we thought she would tie herself into a knot. After a few minutes of being restless she coils up tight back on the heat.

You are getting close now! I would guess 4 days or less until she lays. I know the breeding charts generally say 45 days ovulation to lay, but I have been through this 5 times now and every single female I've bred has generally gone around 60 days ovulation to lay with healthy eggs, no complications. I have just adjusted my expectations to reflect ~60 days gravid, ~60 days for eggs to hatch. Maybe it's the temps, maybe I catch the early side of ovulation, but with a healthy mum and healthy babies, at this point I don't even worry about it.

Good luck and I hope you have something really distracting to do while you wait for those babies!

She finally laid today. Just got home from a birthday party and they were not there when I left but were when I got home. Took 42 days after her pre lay shed. So excited. Breeding was champagne Mojave female and used 2 different males. Normal Mojave’s for BEL’s and a leopard fire male. Guess we find out in 60+\- days what we get. Thanks everyone for the help.
