    Prey size for big snakes?
I recently bought a female ball python that’s bigger than any I have previously owned. She is 3000 grams and I was just wondering what people feed their big ball pythons? A 300 gram rat seems ridiculous. Should I feed her rats 100-200 gram? How often? And I’m looking to pair her this season so will I need to up her food if I keep her on smaller prey sizes? Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

I have 3500 and 4000 grams females and they don't get anything more than 150/175 grams rats once a week. The bigger the rat the more sluggish the animal and the most likely they will be to skip 3 to 4 meals in between.

Smaller preys more often are better overall.

Ok thanks, I’ll try on 150 gram rats. Do you feed weekly all year round and throughout the breeding season or do you increase their food during breeding?

I do feed weekly I no longer increase during breeding season since I breed year round rather than use a season.

When I did what I would do I would increase the frequency not the size every five days instead of 7 for females only.
