Problems with Ball Python lately
Had my Spider BP for a year now and Ive always had him in a tank. Never had any problems with him besides the usual defects the gene comes with like some wobble ( I didn't know about it when I got him ) and staring at the top of the tank erect. He's little over a feet long and I don't his weight for those who might ask.
Good feeder since day one refusing only about 2 rats. He started to outgrow all of his hides so I replaced them and moved him to a black tub(those with yellow lids from Walmart) that offered him more floor space at the cost of height.
It all started on his last meal couple weeks ago or month, it was his largest ever before he moved to the tub. He refused to strike the large rat so I let it overnight, he had eaten it the next morning. I feared the snake might be losing the necessity to strike in order to save energy, since he might've figured out the rat was already dead. Well, I moved him to the tub about 1 1/2 weeks after that.
In the new tub everything seemed fine at first. However, he started to become more active in the day which is a pretty bad sign, has not peed for a while, and has refused every food item while in there. He looks at it and immediately backs off, sometimes to his hide and balls up. He is obviously scared of it and something might be stressing him out. Tub keeps itself dark with light coming from the holes. Humidity sometimes gets high.
If I could get some
opinions I would really appreciate it. I dont know a herp vet here in Miami where i live.
I checked for RI or scale rot and he has none as well. It all started this Spring. Is it mating season or something? Sorry i dont know.
