    If you read further down the article it says: "Of the 18 baby anacondas, 15 were stillborn, and another died within a week. But two survived."

    No exactly a defect, but not good odds either. It's pretty neat that a few survived though.

    Oops, my bad...it was very late & I didn't read all the way down. Yeah, sadly, that's more typical...but nature "tries" anyway.
    I had one rosy boa born via parthenogenesis some years ago...but she had many defects & only survived 7+ mos. It's not a perfect system for sure.

    What I can't figure out, if the snake is 10 feet long and full of *18* 2-foot-long babies, how did the keepers NOT notice she was getting a bit wide??
