She bit herself??

Lucy seems pretty agitated tonight and we aren't sure what's going on at all. She's moving around but staying coiled and she actually bit herself! It was like she startled herself and struck.

She was fine yesterday and she ate just fine on Tuesday. Nothing has changed in the past few days so I have no idea what it could be.

Are you sure she's being fed enough? How old is Lucy...what size? & what size is her prey? how often is she fed?

There is another possibility...I have seen a snake with internal pain that bit himself*...let's hope this is not the issue with Lucy. (*and that didn't end well...)

She's 2 years now, about 4 foot long. I offer her a medium rat every two weeks but she sometimes skips meals. She refused the one before Tuesday's.

I am really hoping she is just in extended feeding mode and nothing is wrong ....

Yes, hopefully. Snakes can do some goofy things now & then, & it sounds like enough food...some snakes do stay in "feed mode" longer than a day.

I've seen my Kingsnake do that too. As long as he wasn't injured, which he wasn't, I just chalked it up to a snake being a snake. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes more frequent.
